Welcome to the Coppell North Middle School Band Program – home of the 2006-2008 CC State Honor Band!
The North Cougars were selected as the Texas State Honor Band out of the top fourteen honor finalists in the state of Texas. The Honor Band competition began back in June as bands from across the state competed at the District, Region and Area level of competition. For a band to advance to the next level of competition, they had to be selected as the first or second best band at each level. The Coppell North Band was selected as the first place honor band at the district, region and area levels advancing them to the state competition held in July in San Antonio.
There was a tremendous pool of competition with over 260 CC middle schools in the state of Texas. To make the top fourteen at state is a great honor and to win the title of Texas State Honor band is the highest level of achievement and award from the state of Texas for a school band program and the parent campus and school.
The fun and rewards are just beginning as the band prepares to present a full hour of concert literature as the State Honor Band. This prestigious performance will be held at the Texas Music Educators Association convention in San Antonio this coming February 2007.
New 8th GRADERS, this is your year to shine! The 8th grade leadership is always the main reason we are successful and enjoy the reputation of being the best middle school band around! 8th graders, we challenge you to make this next year unbeatable, unbelievable, and to leave a lasting tradition that will be hard to match for classes of the future.
New 7th graders, GET BUSY! You have a hefty reputation to fill already, and you will be required to rise to the occasion and fill the shoes of incredible band members.
The band is the largest in the history of North and is the largest middle school band anywhere in this area of Texas! We have so many neat things planned for you in addition to the performances, concerts, football games, contests, parties, dances; it will be a fun-filled and very rewarding year!
