Originally from Canyon, Texas, Nancy Jarrett now resides in Coppell and maintains a studio of about 40 students from Coppell Middle Schools North and West. In high school she was a two year Texas All-State Band/Orchestra member as well as drum major for the Canyon High School band. Along with her musical success in high school, she also graduated Valedictorian of her class in 1999. Her honors continued at the University of North Texas with membership in numerous honors societies, and she graduated Summa Cum Laude with a 4.0 GPA when she received her Bachelor of Music in Performance in 2003. While at UNT she also began to establish herself as an active freelance musician in many Metroplex ensembles including the Dallas Wind Symphony, Richardson Symphony, Orchestra of New Spain, Las Colinas/Garland Symphony, Abilene Philharmonic, San Angelo Symphony, as well as numerous musical theatre productions. She spent two summers in Maine playing at the Pierre Monteux School for Conductors and Orchestra musicians, and she returned to UNT to continue her education in 2004. In 2005 her graduate horn quartet performed with the UNT Symphony Orchestra as winners of the University Concerto Competition. In December 2007 she graduated with her Master of Music in Performance with a related field in Early Music/Natural Horn. Along with teaching and performing, Nancy is the Associate Director of Music at the First United Methodist Church of Coppell where she directs three handbell choirs and the church wind ensemble.
